Charles Monroe Schulz, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 26, 1922 -- February 12, 2000, was an American cartoonist. In 1950, he began to create the Peanuts cartoon series, which constructed the world with snoopy the dog and Charlie Brown the little boy as the main characters. He has twice won the Ruben Award, the highest honor in comic art. In 1978, he was selected as the "International cartoonist of the Year". In 1990, he was awarded the French Medal of Arts.
